The no of foreign tourists coming to India has drastically increased by 23.5 percent this year as per the data of the Ministry of Tourism. The countries which have showered the maximum growth are Bangladesh and the US. The online portal for applying the India visa has apparently brought the transparency in the visa process.
Here are some key-points that show the definite growth of Indian tourism due to the introduction of e-Visa India.
In April 2017 the total number of foreign tourist was 7.40 lakh while the number of tourists was 5.99 lakh in April 2016.
There are 5 countries where the maximum tourists are from; Bangladesh (23.07 percent), USA (10.65 percent), UK (10.51 percent), Australia (3.15 percent), and Germany (3.28 percent).
35.85 lakh foreign national rushed to India during the period January-April 2017. It clearly shows the growth as much as 15.4 percent when it is compared to 31.08 lakh tourists in January- April 2016.
A maximum number of foreign tourists has entered through Delhi airport and it was around 9.2 percent followed by Mumbai airport (15.48 percent).
Haridaspur Land check-post between Bangladesh and India was the most frequently used route by foreign tourists. While 12.88 percent of India's total foreign tourists has used Gede Rail Land check-post and Ghojadanga land check-post to get an entry in India.
There is a 63.4% growth in tourists has been registered to compare the no of tourists in April month 2016(0.7 lakh) from the no of tourist in April 2017(1.14 lakh).
Nationals of UK have applied for the maximum number of e-Tourist visas at 21.6 percent followed by USA, China, Russian Federation, France and Germany
